National Championship Eve

Yesterday the girls and I had the privilege of going to the loveliest village on the plains.  Before we helped Elizabeth move back in the dorm, we decided to go downtown Auburn and check out the atmosphere. The girls had to get lemonade from Toomers Corner while I chose to get hot chocolate with whip cream. It was delicious.
Laura Cameron was having fun taking pictures of everything downtown.  She just couldn't pass up this cute picture.  She was just walking by and acting like she was checking out her camera when she shot this picture.
All of the stores had decorated for the big game. This picture was a shot of Wrapsody's store window. I just loved the toilet paper.

Laura Cameron and Elizabeth decided to have a photo shoot, and I was the one capturing most of the pictures.

Everything was going great until . . .

I was trying to get in the back seat of Elizabeth's car.  There was sooooo much stuff that I couldn't shut the door.  I finally got the door shut, and you can see above what happened to my phone.  Just thankful it still works!  I need a new phone!!!

I am still sad that we are not in Glendale. As we are watching all of the TV shows, my feelings about Glendale go back and forth. A part of me wishes that we were all there...mom, dad, the whole Champion family. We have been such dedicated Auburn fans for so long and it kills me to know that we will be watching it from home. The other part (the realistic) is telling me that it is OKAY. We will get to watch it on our new TV (considering the power does not go out) and we will save A LOT of money by not going. I calculated the trip and if you add the plane, hotel, and tickets for 4, I calculated about $7,000 not including meals. It just doesn't seem logical although we are all about to die to be there right now. We are coping with our decision and going to make the best of it:)

My dad played on the 1957 Championship team at Auburn. We found this picture and he is wearing the #11 jersey on the third row. We are so proud of him and love hearing the sports announcer talk about the '57 team and know that my dad played on that amazing team. We are hoping that if Auburn wins tomorrow night, they will have a special event for both teams next football season.

We all know you can't go to Auburn and not eat a turkey wrap at Amsterdam Cafe. Laura Cameron first found out about these from Corey Kate and Leah when she went and visited Auburn during her senior year. They have become one of our family's favorite treats to eat while visiting Auburn. Britt will agree that we frequently saw "Amsterdam Cafe" on the debit card history during Laura Cameron and now Elizabeth's college days.

Tonight we will be watching all the specials on the BCS Championship game.  Laura Cameron will keep us posted on events happening in Glendale via twitter and Facebook.  Elizabeth is at the Village and will be watching the game with a group of friends. They are sad that the Arena is closed but they are looking forward to (hopefully) rolling Toomer's Corner. Classes have been canceled at Auburn on Monday and she is thankful because she had a class at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon!  Laura Cameron and Britt do not have to work tomorrow and I am still waiting to see if I will have to go.  We are just hoping  that we have power to watch the game. I bought a portable CD/radio player today at Walmart and the batteries are ready. LC has her jersey ready to wear tomorrow and we also have shakers ready to cheer on the tigers. ..Needless to say, the Motts are ALL AUBURN ALL IN!!

Cleaning Week

This week we are having cleaning week at the Motts. We have all been cleaning out our rooms and other rooms in the house. Laura Cameron decided to paint her room this week.  She still has a lot of things to get from her house in Auburn.

This is how it looks now. We are trying to decide if we are going to keep it white or paint it yellow or green.

Elizabeth has been catching up on her sleep over the entire holidays.  She should be well rested by the time she goes back.

We went to Prattville on Tuesday night to eat and Laura Cameron went to see William. We made a major purchase...our first FLAT SCREEN TV! We are soo proud...Britt said instead of Glendale that we would just settle for a new TV!  We are loving our new TV and can't wait to cheer on our Auburn Tigers to a National Championship!

We are getting ready for the New Year!  Not sure what we are doing yet though.  Hope you have a Happy New Year!

For Unto Us A Child Is Born

Happy Birthday Jesus!! "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

We have had an amazing Christmas this year. The Champion side of the family celebrated Christmas at my sister's house (Carol). We all gathered at their new house in Hayneville and it was lots of fun catching up and sharing memories from past years. Unfortunately, our photographer was unable to attend (she was at the Rockettes with William); therefore, we do not have any pictures from that Christmas celebration.
There are two parts to this post because our photographer had too many photos that she wanted to share.
PART I-

After having a photo shoot with Laura Cameron's new camera, we headed to the Christmas Eve Vespers service at our church. After the service, we went to Nina's house (Britt's aunt) in Sardis to celebrate Christmas with the Mott family. Everybody was there!

Nina gave the boys these toboggans and we had so much fun watching them show off their new hats.

PART II
On Christmas morning, Laura Cameron, was the first one to wake up.  Once we got Elizabeth to get out of the bed, we opened gifts.
We got Britt a Garmin watch that he has been wanting for a while. His new hobby is running and this is something that all of his "running gang" has...he was VERY surprised so we were happy that we kept it a secret!

Laura Cameron's favorite gifts were probably all of her new teacher supplies that she got. She is in love with buying teacher/school supplies. Elizabeth is sporting her new vest that she loves and she also got GLEE season 1 (which has kept her occupied since Christmas morning).

After opening presents, we ate our traditional Christmas quiche breakfast. Britt made this while the girls were opening presents.
For lunch we headed to the Mott's(Granny and Grandaddy) house for yet another Christmas meal. When we got back home, everyone crashed for their afternoon naps.  Elizabeth and Laura Cameron had fun watching Glee episodes, while Britt watched the SEC Championship game again and I read my new book Playing with a Purpose:  Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, and Colt McCoy, my favorite boys.  I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
